About CarCompare

What We Do

CarCompare helps car buyers compare vehicles side-by-side across performance, fuel economy, safety, and pricing. Whether you are buying new or used, our detailed comparisons simplify the decision by presenting the data that matters most in a clear, structured format.

Our Data Sources

Every comparison on CarCompare is built from authoritative, publicly available data. We pull fuel economy and emissions figures from the EPA Fuel Economy API at fueleconomy.gov. Vehicle specifications come directly from manufacturer data sheets and press releases. Safety ratings are sourced from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). For pricing context, we reference Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds market data.

Our Methodology

We pull official EPA fuel economy ratings including city, highway, and combined MPG, plus CO2 emissions per mile. Vehicle specs come from manufacturer data sheets. We normalize metrics to enable fair cross-segment comparisons — comparing a sedan to an SUV shows exactly where trade-offs lie in fuel costs, cargo space, acceleration, and safety performance.

Editorial Standards

Fuel economy data is sourced directly from EPA testing. We do not adjust or editorialize government-reported figures. Specifications are verified against manufacturer press releases. Our comparisons are algorithmically generated from structured data, not subjective opinions. When data conflicts between sources, we default to the government or manufacturer primary source.
